Pregnancy following liver transplantation is uncommon and involves maternal and Fetal complications.
We are proud to inform that team led by Dr Meenakshi T. Sahu, successfully delivered a third gravida with history of previous caesarean section, who had liver transplantation for Caroli’s disease. Such patients need immunosuppressants after liver transplantation, which was continued during pregnancy. Her pregnancy was closely monitored for graft status, liver function tests, diabetes, hypertension and growth of baby, along with adjustment of her medications.
Patient delivered by caesarean section at 36 weeks due to scar tenderness. Both mother and baby were discharged after three days of hospital stay.
A skilled obstetrical care, multi-disciplinary approach, and centre with neonatal care and advanced facilities, are must to deal with such complicated high risk pregnancy, as stated by Dr Meenakshi T. Sahu, Gynaecologist and IVF specialist at Apollo Cradle, New Delhi.
