What Does a Neonatologist Do?
Cases, where your newborn is prematurely born or is faced with a serious illness, injury or a birth defect, require the attention of a Neonatologist. Apart from assisting with your baby’s care, a Neonatologist will also perform a complete evaluation and regularly monitor the health of your newborn. A Neonatologist will also conduct outpatient follow-ups of your baby, after discharge, to detect any potential problems that may arise. In cases where a problem has been diagnosed before your baby is born, Apollo Cradle’s Neonatology department will, in addition to your consulting doctor, help with your baby’s care during pregnancy.
Who Needs To Be Admitted In A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)?

Infants with low Apgar score need specialised care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Babies born with congenital birth defects may also need care in the NICU. time after birth. Babies who develop neonatal jaundice would also need admission in NICU while they are treated for it.
