Missing a period cannot always means that a woman is pregnant. There can be several other reasons for missing you period. If one has adopted birth control techniques then missed periods can be a common problem. It may take around six months for the cycle to come back in track after the medication is stopped. This is caused because of the estrogen and progestin that prevent the release of eggs from the ovaries.
This is another medical condition that highly affects bodily functions such as metabolism and hormone levels. The overactive or underactive thyroid glands can be the cause of you missed period. This can be easily treated with medication and the cycle again becomes normal once the prescribed medication is adopted.
However, it is advised to see a doctor for diagnosis. Only a doctor can help you detect the correct reason behind your missed or late periods. The changes in your cycle should be recorded and supervised and any major imbalance or delay should be consulted with the doctor.
