After 40 weeks of pregnancy, the growth of the baby is consistent. During this time, in your third trimester, you may feel pressure or discomfort in your pelvic region. This happens because the baby has started to turn and move in your uterus. As the 40th-week approaches, the head of the baby will move to the entrance of the birth canal.
The main cause of this pressure and discomfort in the pelvis is your baby. The average weight of a baby is six to seven pounds. As the baby is stretching and moving in the uterus, you will feel the pressure getting strong resulting in short bouts of pain. You will also feel the pressure moving up towards the stomach and the lungs. Until your baby descends into the pelvic area, it will feel like your baby is kicking and stretching its way out of the uterus. After descending, the pelvic pressure will be converted into cervical pressure.

For getting relief from this pressure and discomfort, you should sit with your feet propped up or spend time lying down on your side. Try massages, warm baths, and a belly sling for relieving some pressure on the lower back. This will help in easing your suffering.
