Pelvic Girdle Pain

The pelvic girdle consists of the pelvis and lower back bones, muscles and joints. When there is a growing baby inside your abdomen, at some point, you will be experiencing pain in your pelvic girdle. However, unlike other pregnancy pain, this pain is not associated with an increase in the hormonal level.

Causes of Pelvic Girdle Pain

The main cause of the pelvic girdle pain is the growing baby inside the uterus. As the uterus grows, the placenta and fluid in the amniotic sac, along with the weight of the baby, start to put pressure on the bones in the pelvic girdle. This can lead to pain and discomfort in the lower half of the body. At some point, this pain can get severe.
