To impart education and increase awareness on female foeticide, Apollo Cradle, a women and children healthcare centre, organised a 2.3 km walkathon on March 6.

The walkathon was held from Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, Jayanagar 3rd Block to Apollo Cradle, Jayanagar 5th Block. The walkathon that flagged off at 6:30 am was inaugurated by Vijay Kumar B N, MLA, Jayanagar constituency and Dr Suresh G, Director, Apollo Cradle.

The initiative to raise a voice against female feticide witnessed people from different walks of life and consultants of Apollo Cradle coming together to stress on the importance of “Natural is Priceless”.

“Natural is Priceless” is an initiative which Apollo Cradle has been leading;  where the clinic works with mothers to prepare them for childbirth and encourage them to have a natural delivery.  With this initiative, Apollo Cradle endeavors to urge more women to opt for natural birth.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kumar B N, MLA from Jayanagar constituency, said, “It is essential to raise awareness and take concrete steps to combat this issue.  There is a need to deepen the thinking of the girl child with regard to their infinite roles in society and to protect and motivate her to reach her full potential and realise her dreams through education and exposure to diverse careers. Raising the status of women is imperative for the betterment of society and we should all join hands and be a part of this noble initiative.”
