Up to 50 million girls and women are missing from India’s population as a result of systematic gender discrimination in India. With an aim to impart education and increase awareness on female foeticide , Apollo Cradle- a women and children healthcare centre organised a 2.3 km walkathon here.
The initiative to raise voices against female foeticide witnessed people from different walks of life coming together to stress on the importance of ‘Natural is Priceless’. “It is essential to raise awareness and take concrete steps to combat this issue. There is a need to deepen the thinking of the girl child with regard to their infinite roles in society and to protect and motivate her to reach her full potential and realise her dreams through education and exposure to diverse careers. Raising the status of women is imperative for the betterment of society and we should all join hands and be a part of this noble initiative,” said Vijay Kumar, B N -MLA, Jayanagar constituency.
