Your 9th Month Pregnancy Diet Chart

In this last month of your pregnancy, you can feel steadily uncomfortable. In this month your baby’s growth is almost complete. However, it is important that you eat well as your baby’s lungs and brain are still developing at this stage. You need to follow a healthy and balanced diet to ensure that your baby gets enough nutrition.

You need to eat larger portions than from the beginning of your pregnancy. But avoid overeating as it can add to the rapid weight gain that you experience during this time. Here are some foods that you need to include in your daily diet in the ninth month of your pregnancy:

  • Fruits – 2 to 4 servings
  • Vegetables – more than 4 servings
  • Protein rich foods – 3 servings
  • Whole grain bread and grains – 6 to 11 servings
  • Dairy products – 4 servings
  • Fluids – Minimum 2 litres

Foods to eat during the ninth month of your pregnancy
Eating healthy and nutritious foods is important in the last month of the pregnancy. It helps to prevent discomfort and heartburns that you may experience in the later stages of the pregnancy. Make sure you include the below foods in your diet.

Include lots of vegetables and fruits in your diet in the ninth month of the pregnancy. You should also eat plenty of whole grain breads, dates and cereals to ensure you get enough fibre.

Consume a minimum of 3 servings of foods that are rich in iron in this month. Include chicken, fish, egg yolk, lentils, broccoli, peas, spinach, berries and soybeans. You should also include dried fruits like raisins and prunes.

You need to eat plenty of calcium-rich foods at this time. This is because of calcium retention peaks in the ninth month. Include plenty of dairy products, collard greens, almonds, sesame seeds, and oatmeal in your diet.

Vitamin C
Eat plenty of citrus fruits like melons and oranges in the ninth month of your pregnancy. You can also include strawberries, tomatoes, cauliflowers and broccoli. This way you can get enough Vitamin C during the later stages of the pregnancy.

Folic Acid
Folic acid is important in the ninth month of your pregnancy. This can help in preventing birth defects in your little one. You can get folic acid from green leafy vegetables. It can also be obtained from legumes such as chickpeas, black-eyed peas and lima beans.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is very important in the pregnancy at this stage. Spinach, carrots, cantaloupe and sweet potatoes are good sources of Vitamin A for you.

This is a crucial stage in the pregnancy and you need to avoid some foods during this time. Here are the foods that you must omit from your diet in the ninth month of the pregnancy:

  • Alcohol
